As news of the guilty verdict in the trial of the murders of the Afzaal family is released, we at CMHA Thames Valley Addiction & Mental Health Services stand with our friends and neighbors during this challenging time. The murder of the Afzaal family and the subsequent trail has made a significant impact on our community’s collective wellbeing.
In these times, it is not uncommon for emotions like anxiety, fear, and grief to surface, not only due to this event but also as we grapple with broader issues of hate and discrimination in the community.
We wish to express solidarity with all who have been targets of hate and violence. Our commitment to providing support is unwavering, and we are here to offer safe space where individuals and families can seek solace, understanding, and professional care.
CMHA TVAMHS’s services are inclusive and respectful of the diverse values and beliefs of all members of our community. We are prepared to offer our care and support to anyone in need, especially to those who may feel marginalized or in distress due to current or past events.
As we collectively navigate the aftermath of this verdict and the impacts of hate, we urge anyone struggling or seeking support to contact us. Our doors are open to provide the necessary support to anyone impacted by these issues.
For immediate support, please contact Reach Out at 1-866-933-2023 or visit our walk-in Crisis Centre at 648 Huron St. You may also visit our website to learn more about Crisis Services Outside of London and the resources we offer.
