Bereavement Services Program
Bereavement Services are available to anyone grieving the loss of a loved one as a result of suicide and/or substance use. As more individuals are dealing with their own mental health concerns and the incidence of substance use continues to rise, many families and caregivers are faced with a different type of grief due to an unexpected loss. The stigma associated with such a loss can compound our grief and exacerbate feelings of guilt, shame and despair.
Our bereavement counsellor will connect with you, offering to assess and support you with improving the quality of your own life by developing coping strategies, reducing isolation, integrating your loss and regaining your own well-being.
Program Eligibility
This program is open to:
- Anyone 16 years and up
- Anyone experiencing grief as a result of loss due to suicide and/or substance use
- Individuals who have the ability to attend appointments regularly, either virtually or in person
- Individuals who are ready to share their grief with the bereavement counsellor and establish small goals to work through it
- Individuals who reside in the catchment area of Oxford, Elgin and Middlesex Counties as well as the Exeter and South Huron area
